I'm not worried about Android taking over IOS or dominating, I'm sick and tired of articles popping up everywhere stating that it is. Android in my opinion is nothing great. There are so many security flaws in it, it's not even funny. The link in my sig and the link I posted above are from mainstream media sources upholding this.

I hope we see a bigger upgrade than the update from the iPhone 3G to the 3GS

Movie rentals have been available since iOS 4.2.1.
Music on a cloud? Sure, but only if it's free. Yes, I DO mind that MobileMe costs >= $99/mo. MobileMe should at least offer a free package, though I'd prefer to have MobileMe's highest package available to me at no cost. If Dropbox can offer 2G's storage for free, so can MobileMe.

What do I want? On all devices: Android-style push notifications, face & voice recognition, the ability to close an app (not leave it in the multitasking bar), the ability to turn off multitasking altogether, weather on my lock/home screen, and the ability to test/deploy an iDevice app without paying $99/year to Apple. Also, allow the built-in apps to be deleted. On iPad: Add the apps that come with every iPhone/iPod touch.

Well TC said he was impressed with google keynote, from 4.2.1 it support direct rental from device, but iTunes rentals was avable before that and you could transfer it to iDevice, if you watched google keymotes you can hear music beta is "free in the beta", so not sure if it's stay free.

As if that actually means much to you.

Sure it's open: to the OEMs, and to the carriers. Most OEMs/carriers actually lock the phones bootloader down to try to prevent you from tampering to much. That's not "open". That's open*.

Exactly, android fans always throw this in everyones face, it doesn't mean anything if you don't know how to take advantage of it. In reality, they have no idea what open source really means.

Now I'm not trying to sound too fanboyish here but...

Exactly. So many people try to say that Android is better because it is open sourced. 85% of users (rough estimate) wouldn't even be able to take any sort of advantage from the fact that is open. And, as JKK said, open* is still not open.

I don't like Android because it's open source, I like Android because it offers more customization therefore being more open. However I don't like Android all that much, it could just be because I'm using it on a Sony Ericsson and they suck ass at making phones.

Yeah, I do know what open-source means.

But actually, when I talk about 'open', I mean you can do whatever the hell you want to do to your device. And I mean natively, no system-tampering whatsoever.

In Android, you can customize the whole UI to your heart's content. On iOS you change the wallpaper and the icon placement. Woo-hoo.

And I ain't an Android fanboy. I do not own any Android device. I do own an iPod Touch though. Prefering an OS doesn't make people fanboys of such OS.
