Yeah, and Ferraris are another experience too. But way cheaper cars fulfill the same needs the average user requires.

As soon as Macs became X86 based computers, they just became overpriced PCs

And this is coming from a guy owning a Mac, as I need to use Xcode

The experience is different, but I would say for the worst, specially if you are a technical user.

Way cheaper and a way different experience. Some people like to drive nice cars I guess. Good luck getting Dell or someone to replace your machine a year after the warranty is over. And I do own a very windows machine to update the avionics in my aircraft. In the end you just need a machine that takes care of your needs.

    Microsoft

If Microsoft was the one using a feline codename for Windows, then "Garfield" would be appropriate for how bloated it is.
PS: I have some other good APPS from aneesoft want to recommend. Maybe someone will like it.

Im currently running both Ubuntu and fedora on my two old PC's. If it wasn't for the lack of developer support i would have never purchased my Macbook in the 1st place. Pretty much every OS from Windows, Mac, and Linux are vulnerable to threats but is through this same obscurity OS's like Ubuntu, Fedora, Knoppix etc are safe for the time being. Honestly i really like OSX and would hate to have to switch to another OS with little to no support just because some new jacks decided to hop the bandwagon.

Didn't snow leopard come out a year ago? and they usually announce it a year before the release.

I believe 2 years is normal for an OSX release I believe. Similar to windows where it's normally 2-3 years.

Well boys the 20th is gonna be a good day in my mind just sold my macbook for 700 hoping to pick up a mini then upgrade to iMac 27 after that anyway saw this few days ago right when i was planning on heading out to pick up my new computer thank god i saw it otherwise i would have been sh*t out of luck.

Hoping for OS upgrade although I would like to see a complete OS upgrade im thinking it's gonna be another leopard to snow leopard deal. Which is not a bad thing there was lots of good things that came from snow leopard.

It is "back to mac" so expect some changes to the current hardware lineups and dare i say it MAYBE we will see multitouch come to Mac computers. There is a definite possibility that this could happen, despite the patents, the iPod touch was used also as a test to see how people liked multitouch so they could implement it into their computers the one button various swipe controlled beauties that we all love. It could be a possibility that the iPad was also a test to see how people liked multitouch for more robust tasks like word processing. Either way I will be tuning in indefinitely on October 20th

    This.

I got a Mac for iOS development, I now I can't imagine not buying a Macbook for my next laptop.

I can think of several iPod touch competitors. The Archos 32 Internet Tablet, the Archos 43 Internet Tablet, the OpenPandora, and the Zune HD are just a couple I remembered off the top of my head.

You're right, the Mac Pro has gotten more expensive. It's also gotten better. I really can't argue this point. You're right.

Buying a Mac over hackintoshing has the advantages that you listed. The ability to hit that button to update software and not have to worry is worth it to me. But there are a couple other reasons I'd pick a Mac over a hackintosh, such as the design of the case, etc. Little things.

Yeah, sub-$1000 PCs just break and fall apart. It becomes cheaper to buy a Macbook Pro that will last you a number of years over a cheap HP laptop that you have to replace every year or so.

Really, I can get a Windows computer with similar specs to this iMac I sit at now for half the price? Lets watch that fall apart, shall we?

The entry-level iMac has a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB HDD, a 21.5" display, and 256MB of graphics power. It costs $1199.00, half of which would be $559.50. HP has their HP All-in-One 200xt. It has similar specs, some is a bit better, some is a bit worse. But it costs $799.99. And it will probably fall apart and suck.

Yes I do. And I've done it before. But honestly, if we're talking about my mom (the exact opposite of the tech nerd), is she going to do that. No, she's not.

I have found actually that because of the way mac's operating system is organized and how it accesses all the files and keeps it way more clean than a pc it generally works faster than the pc copy of it out of the box and defiantly lasts longer as you said Metakirbyknight
