just to let you know that you will need all 5 components plug in for you to get video and sound. Essentially the 1 yellow will be consumed to by the green, blue, and red (to produce picture/video).

If any of those components are being used for sound then you are messed up.

Personally, i think this box is poorly setup (unless there are connection on the other side that I cannot see).

Your first mistake was buying a "component" cable, what you actually need is the "composite" cable, component being Red Green Blue (video) and White Red (audio), which is what you have there. I have no clue where you found that adapter at, but that design and architecture is flawed horribly. First off, I don't see where it says In and OUT at. Also I only see ONE set of audio plugs, whereas there should be either TWO or NONE AT ALL.

Just an FYI, but Radioshack sells a cheaper, yet comparable version of the composite cable you are looking for. Apple's runs about $50, RS's ruuns about $40, and $20 when you can find it on sale. Only difference between the two is the RS version doesnt have the extra USB plug, but really you don't need it since your ipod comes with a sync cable.
