So Apple announced in-app purchasing for free apps today. In my opinion, this is a great announcement because it will allow developers to put out a free trial app, and then using in-app purchasing upgrade it to the full version without loosing data stored within the app. This could possibly get rid of the mutiple versions of an app, ex. a lite edition, a regular, and a pro.

On a side note I would also like to see more developerstake advantage of in-app purchasing. I hate it when I have to scroll through apps on a search because of all of the different types of the app. I do not see why they cannot build a basic version with the U.I. that when you load it up it asks you to buy via in-app purchasing a certain kind. It would clean up the app store a ton. That's my opinion when in-app purchasing first came out. And I am disappointed to not see this tool used more often.

Let me know what you opinion is about in-app purchasing and the ability to use it on free apps as well.

oh sorry. I guess I saw that but didn't think it was that great of a "quality post". It was posted as a announcement and a one line WTF pretty much.

I really dont think this is much of a good idea.
I mean free apps were meant to be free apps.

Theres no sense enjoying a free app if youre just gonna be tempted to buy stuff on it.
Its the same way with free apps and those stupid advertisements that you cant skip until after a period of time.

    ... Stupid idea.
Shouldove left it at the 99 cent thing.

I hate in-app purchasing, it is a big ripoff by apple that allows app devs to take even more money from us
