Apple is essentially lying about the new features in it's new iPhone 4 suggesting that it is the first to introduce video calling, multitasking, a 5 megapixel camera, HD video recording on a phone, etc. If anything Apple has been catching up to the competition. Link!

Don't get me wrong, i'm not Anti-Apple, i just dont agree with how they portray the competition, and a lot of their policies. Be honest here, what do you think about this?

This isnt a thread about who best implemented these features fyi.

Well, you can't just look at it as if it's personal.

It's marketing. That's what they do / say.

I do agree, though. I feel that they do over exaggerate some things.
But still, it's marketing. I'm not surprised.

And frankly, they're doing a great job with it.

It's the same with all the Droid commercials. They insinuate that the Droid is the only phone capable of the presented features when anyone with half a brain can see that that's just not the case.

Marketing is full of exaggeration and, in some cases, blatant lies, which is why the average consumer is so easily fooled.

Yeah, all companies do it. But Apple is suppose to be a company that consumers can trust, its not like other companies and it holds itself up to a certain standard. People (the general consumer) trusts Apple more, its not just a faceless, corporate-ty company in their eyes. I'm not sure if you guys can understand what i mean but w/e.

When someone says "It's a first".

It could be portrayed as in "It's the first time this had ever happened EVER"

    or

"It's a first." Like a mother saying telling her son to shower, and he already did "That's a first."

So Apple saying "It's a first.", it's probably a first for them.

I have a feeling that Apple knows that new users who don't know anything about the competition will think that it's cool that apple is "first" to do these things, but they didn't want to lie, so they kind twisted it to look like they're saying "in so many ways, it's a first for us" even though they mean to manipulate the noobs by making them believe apple is first

The whole difference is whether they meant
    It's the first
    or
    it's apples first

Either way, who cares if they do that? Other companies are way less subtle.

    In FaceTime Apple says
I think it's pretty clear that they are saying that they are the first to do video calling, before the iPhone 4, video calling was just a "dream".

And please dont get me wrong people, i dont hate Apple and am getting the iPhone 4. I just want to have a little discussion.
