I'd really like the Apple 24" LED Cinema Display for my MacBook:

    • It looks amazing on the outside.
    • Picture's meant to be pretty good.
    • It has an iSight and Mic.
    • And it can charge my MacBook while I use it.

On the other hand.. It's £580 with my Educational discount. Which is quite a lot for a screen, when a standard iMac only costs £690...

So... I'm not sure whether to fork out £580 for the lovely display or to go for something bigger, cheaper and with more functions:

For example, that. Which is a Samsung television:

    • Which is trustworthy as a brand.
    • Looks sleek, because it's black.
    • Has VGA support (if I bought the connector for Mini Display > VGA)
    • It can replace my current TV which I use for Xbox, Wii, Freeview, Sky, etc.

And it's £390. A whole £200 cheaper than the Apple display.

Sounds like a very obvious choice... But I'd still like opinions. I've never seen or touched either before and I'd hate to go for one, find out it's crap and wish I spent a little more or never spent so much.

I meant that. Sony would charge loads for a 32". lol

Personally, I would get the 24" because it is just damn sexy and the picture quality is amazing. Not a big fan of Samsung, rather go with Sony anyday.

But with £200 extra in my pocket.. I could get stuff like a 1TB hard drive and the VGA adapter

The problem is... that Apple Display looks so damn nice and the Samsung is just... a TV with extras. And I've never been a fan of expensive headphones

    p) and I've had a very small TV for a long time and I'm not that bothered... But I'd love to play games in HD on a bigger screen.

IF - There was a way to make the Apple Display have an input for games consoles like... a Mini Display > RWY lead - I would get that instantly. But unfortunately not..

Yes but then.. I'll have a desktop (which is potentially why I'm buying this screen) but I won't be able to attach my MacBook to it OR play Xbox on it. Which is why I ruled it out of the equation ass soon as I thought it :\

Go for Samsung option because you'll gain more in the long run. Comparing the two basically shows you the benefits of its rich functionally, high tech superiority, outstanding HDTV experience, (not to mention Contrast and Detail Enhancers) and of course you'll be able to attach your MacBook and play your favorite Xbox games + many many more...

    Well thanks everyone...

I've decided that if someone makes a Mini DisplayPort (female) to HDMI (female) connector, I shall buy the Apple one and link up my Xbox 360 to it. Then maybe look for a freeview box that supports HDMI too
