I was wondering if there was a free app out there to turn Wi-Fi on or off without going into settings all the time?

I leave it on all the time because most of my surfing is done in the house but have noticed the battery lasts a lot longer if its turned off.

So just thought it would be a nice idea to have a on/off icon on my home screen.

Try SBSettings (off cydia). You'd be able to just 'pull down' sbsettings once installed by flicking the top most part of your iPod.

nah there's probably no such app on the appstore but like the poster above said try sbsettings, you'll have to be jailbroken though.

Not everybody wants their device Jailbroken.
I'm even considering unjailbreaking mine because of some of the performance issues. Only the love of my theme is stoppng me ATM...

Performance issues? If you don't install crap then there will be no performance issues. I mean if you're using themes then it will use a bit of the RAM, but otherwise...

Yeah, I Have some performance issues and I am aware that this is because of what I have installed -

    Winterboard
    5 column SB
    5 icon dock
    Live Clock
    SBSettings

I also have Lockscreen and SB Widgets running - I would probably be okay removing the Lockscreen)

I have removed some things recently which has slightly improved things (and the SB seems to have stopped crashing like it previously did!).

Everything I have installed (except SBSettings) is purely for my theme. Without the theme I wouldn't need to be jailbroken!

Really? Because I thought third party apps was a big thing too. If you get rid of some widgets it might improve your speed.
