I am sure this question has been addressed already, and I have been searching this forum for like an hour. I just cannot find a legitimate answer. This is my question:

The new firmware update 2.0 is coming out tomorrow for ipod with the app store, and worth $10. Is it smart to download it tomorrow, and pay the 10 bucks? I understand that a jailbreak of the 2.0 firmware will soon be out, but will that just adds an installer, or will it give us a free appstore? I'm pretty confused.

It gives you an installer, you still need the 2.0 firmware

The 2.0 firmware will use DRM to ensure it is not pirated - easily at that. We may find it cracked in the furture, but keep in mind the $10 includes the January Software Upgrade. I think its a good deal, considering.

so are you saying that the 2.0 firmware will be $10, not matter what. or will it be like the january software update, where you could just download the firmware without getting the $20 update.

The 2.0 firmware will cost $9.99. Period. No money, no firmware.

Yes, Firmware 2.0 will cost $9.99 under all circumstances. The January Application Pack will be included in this update, and isn't an optional feature.
