This is a discussion thread for the "App Store Fraud, Round Two?" story posted on the front page.
So Apple isn't worried enough about their customers. Well, we've known that. But I can't believe this isn't a bigger issue for the company. Stating that it "merely" was a rogue developer hacking into accounts? Wtf? That's major, no matter if it was a direct hack of the store or not. They should be more concerned.
Good thing I use a gift card to buy from the App Store.

Oh yeah same again
It isn't cool. But if apples right when they say only 400 iTunes accounts were ompromised lag time, that's like .01% of the app store.
Either way, it needs to be addressed/fixed.
These last couple months were supposed to full of joyful chatter over Apple's glorified iOS4 and iPhone 4. However it seems to be plagued by several errors of which only Apple could be to blame. They have multiple issues to remedy in the next software update (even barring the so called antenna fix), relentless [but valid] complaints regarding the hardware issue, and now this...
Even after taking into consideration the size of Apple as a company, I believe they have a lot on their plate.
what about the possibility that it is the users that have a virus or got hacked. that is not apples problem.
"He also states that his password is a string of random alphanumeric characters — definitely not easy to hack."
a random password is hard to remember, but when you make a program that just tries all possibilities (combinations of numbers and letters), it doesn't matter.
Yup, I was thinking the same thing.
You do realize that there are plenty of ways to store a password more or less securely? Have you heard if gnukeyring for Palm OS? something like that's always a possibility.
It is Apple's problem though. Even if it was through a hack, it's their problem. And thy need to address it and fix it ASAP.
They don't need more bad press either. IPhone 4 antenna + this makes for a mad Steve Jobs.
