I'm looking at becoming an app store dev. I know the license is $99, but not much else.

How does it work when you sell an app? How do you get paid? How much of a cut does Apple get?

Does Apple take taxes out prior to paying you, or do they give you a 1099 form?

Does the Dev kit come with software to develop the apps, or can I use other software to make them?

How hard is it to actually get a working app that meets Apple's standards into the appstore? Are they really harsh about stuff, or will an app usually get right in as long as it matches the requirements?

    I'd appreciate any info!

    1. You (the developer) make 70%, and Apple takes a 30% cut, per app.

    2. I would read this informative article on the tax situation.

    3. Any registered developer can download the SDK, but paid developers can get beta versions and release their work into the AppStore, as you know. As for other software, I don't know that you would want to, though you don't HAVE to use XCode.

    4. I don't have anything in the AppStore, but I'm sure that there are many people on this site and elsewhere who can give you an answer.

    Good Luck.
