As noted in the title. I've been spoiled by Winterboard and SBSettings, so I don't know if it's worth it to upgrade just yet

If the iPT 4 is the same as the iPhone 4 you don't need a jailbreak for themes as you can set wallpapers. But you do need it for sbsettings

I personally think jailbreak is completely stale now. It was cool during the 1.x.x and 2.x.x times, but that's just my opinion.

given the features that Apple added in iOS 4 i personally don't have much of a reason to jailbreak since the only advantages i used from it were themes/home screen wallpapers, sbsettings (which i can learn to live without) and multitasking, so i have no need to wait. however if it does eventually get jailbroken (which it almost certainly will) and some cool new stuff shows up i may jailbreak it eventually.

You're going to have to wait for winterboard plus SBSettings to be updated

I am gonna buy it and then wait like everyone else. I want to know how it feels without being jailbroken.

I'm gonna buy one if there's a jailbreak or not.

Probably not actually. They're already all compatible with retina display if they're going to be, and the new iPod Touch will have 4.1 firmware. Apps almost never have to be updated to support the x.1 version of the firmware they were written for.

And as for the original question, (answer coming from a 2g owner) can a jailbreak give you:

A processor that's twice as fast?
    Four times the RAM?
    Doubled screen resolution?
    A gyroscope?
    A camera? (even one?)

No. It's worth the upgrade even in the impossible event that a new jailbreak NEVER comes out.

This. There is no reason to jailbreak a iPod touch anymore. The iPhone yes, well sorta(Until Apple relases something like biteSMS, or makes FaceTime usable on 3G)
