I knew IE had to suck somehow. No Flash support. No YouTube. Chrome > IE. Now Chrome just needs a Metro app mode.

    I don't get it.
Metro "Mode" is like an "access panel", that lets you run stripped down "widgets" of sorts, while Desktop is essentially Windows 7?

So. The difference between Windows 8 and Windows 7 is the fact that it has hot-corners and Metro UI.
However, when you go to "Desktop" mode, everything is like Windows 7?

Seems kind of a pointless OS to me...

Well here's some of the new features. A lot of them don't quite sound worthy of a whole new version of Windows, so I'm expecting [hoping] there's a lot more in store for the final release.

There's always a negative way of putting things. The desktop is much like Windows 7, yes, but so was OSX Lion's comparable to Snow Leopard. It does have its fair share of improvements as well. Then, there's the Start screen. Some tiles are "live," like widgets. Apps can run in Metro mode, which is not on the desktop, but off of the Start screen. These apps have the new UI and behavior of Metro. Windows 8 also includes a new multitasking system, which is a lot to explain. I'd suggest trying it yourself or finding video demonstrations.

Honestly... I'm unimpressed. I just installed it (fresh) on my custom PC, and it's slow, the transition between the Metro UI and the desktop seems clunky, and things just feel "super-glued," for lack of a better word. I really don't care for it.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I just feel like the UIs of two very different paradigms are being shoved together here for no real reason.

Mine's brightness isn't working (it's a Samsung n150 Plus netbook), installed all sorts of video drivers, both old and new, but still stuck at top notch :(
Fortunately I dualboot it with Windows 7 :D

Ohter than that it's super fluid, I can't wait to get my drivers fixed and getting a retail Windows 8!!

I just installed it. It's pretty killer...way better than I remember the developer preview was. I'm definitely getting used to it now. Installed Cut the Rope on the MS Store...and I love the Metro style UI (which I used to not really like b4)

I hate Windows....only really use Mac unless I don't have a choice but I'm liking this W8. MS has really stepped it up this time.

    Mmm, not quite....

I mean Windows Explorer has been terribly modified with that "Office" style. There's no Start button and there's a slightly different windows design (less curved). But hey, the action happens on the Metro UI, I mean, that's the purpose of the PREVIEW. I'm sure you'll get more in Final
