The color of the screen on the ipod touch 2nd gen and the 4th gen are different. Do you notice this? I notice this when the ipods are turned on and running.

Yes, the older gens are like a deep, dark maroon (??) when turned off, and the 4G looks more black when off. I definitely noticed this. My friend has a 2G and I was looking at his the other day and spotted it.

Guessing this is because the new retina display. The black looks so much slicker.

yes. The 2G is grey when off. The 4G is pitch black. When direct sunlight hits it, it turns green. While the 2G still has a grey screen. Its because they use different screens.

Yeah, I think it's becauseof the retina display on the 4G

I could of sworn my friends older gen looked like a maroon, or brown-ish when off? Maybe it was grey? Can't remember.

But whatever, I love the blacked out look of the front glass on the new ones.

That too. I think the 4Gs have more "warmer" colors, thus giving it a "yellowish" tint.

The older gens have brighter, whiter looking colors.

    When it off:

The iPod Touch 4G is black, it loooks like there is 1 big screen on the iPod. I think this is because of the retina display and that the digitizer is merged with the screen.

    When it On:
The iPod Touch 4G has a yellowish colour, but If you restore then it will look normal.

yeah lol i noticed that on the first day i saw a 4g, and when my friend got a 4g, the screen wouldnt light up in the sunlight and mine would! i think the black screen is pretty and i like the way all of the black colours are sharper and are actually black, not blueish like in the older gens, and i would expect the 5G ipod to be visible in the sun..

What do you mean if you restore it, it will look normal?

Restoring a touch will have no affect on the display and it's colors?

Anyways, lots of people have complained about the 4G display, saying they don't like the yellow tint, but I however like it. I prefer warmer colors as apposed to bright ones. The 4Gs display is similar to an HD television, almost.
