ANyone know why my iPod Touch's ping value is...

    ...jumping all over the place? (the ping value is the number you get when using the ping command on its IP address)

    It's going to change based on a whole number of factors including distance from router, what else is going on with your computer, and a bunch of other things. It isn't anything to worry about.

    Well, the router is upstairs and nothing much is happening on my PC.

    The further away from your router you are, and the more that is in the way of the router's line of sight (walls, floors, furniture), the more minor inconsistencies will creep into the connection speeds. If you're on a different floor than your router, then you will get inconsistent ping times when you try and ping your Touch.
