I tried Xilisoft's iPod Rip program which claims to be compatible with firmware 3.0 on iPhones and iPod touches, and it detects the device, but it says it's not able to connect to it and it tells me to make sure I have iTunes 7.3 (or greater?) installed.

I'm running 3.0 (not 3.1.1) on my jailbroken iPod touch 1st gen with iTunes 9 installed. Has anyone had any luck ripping their iPod since updating to iTunes 9?

I can technically use Mobile Commander (or SSH, but it's much slower) to copy the contents of iTunes_control to my PC, but the file names will be like "GPSQ.mp3" and not the song titles, which really bothers me a lot when I'm trying to delete files. If anyone knows of a quick way of copying from ID3 tags into filenames, that would also work for me.

    Thanks in advance!

I use SharePod. It's compatible up to iPhone 3.0 (and does every other iPod). And it's 100% free.

"SharePod cannot find any iPod connected to this computer."

Make sure you have iTunes 7...blah blah. It asks me to try unplugging and reconnecting, which I did 3 times. no dice. :/

Note that Windows explorer (for the "camera" part) and iTunes have no problem at all connecting to it. And I ran the updater and it says my version is up to date. Is it working for you? Do you have iTunes 9 installed?

I haven't payed close enough attention to know for sure which caused it, but either 3.0 or iTunes 9 has made Xilisoft iPod Rip, SharePod and MediaMonkey all stop working...

Sharepod doesn't work with iTunes 9 (or so in my experience). So you pretty much have to downgrade your iTunes... delete iTunes and quick time BEFORE installing an older version. After downgrading iTunes 9 to iTunes 8.2.1 Sharepod starting working fine for me

    Yup.
iTunes 9 breaks SSH and any app that's out there to get into the System's files.
We just gotta wait until someone gets a for for this.
    hopefully soon.
