Well, there is the issue of the compressed ramdisks in the new 3.0 firmwares, and it turns out that it uses a new Snow Leopard compression API. Apparently Snow Leopard has the new feature of mounting a compressed HFS+ disk, and I think that is what the new ramdisks are formatted as. Am I getting something horribly wrong, or is this a way to get the ramdisk data?

If someone has the Snow Leopard beta installed, can they try to open it. I have uploaded the DECRYPTED iPod Touch 2G restore ramdisk. All someone needs to do is download it, unzip it, and click on the .dmg! Let's hope this may work.

EDIT: Removed link (it's illegal). Instructions below to get it below:

    1. Download the 3.0b2 .ipsw from the Apple Developer Center! Download img3decrypt from here.

    2. Move the .ipsw AND img3decrypt to any folder, as long as they are in the same one.

    3. Extract the restore ramdisk.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    unzip iPod2,1_3.0_7A259g_Restore.ipsw 018-4887-7.dmg
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    4. Decrypt the ramdisk. Make sure img3decrypt is in the same directory as the ramdisk.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ./img3decrypt e 018-4887-7.dmg ipt2g_3.0b2_restoreramdisk.dmg DC 4D 3E 13 D9 CB 5F 7C DC 50 4D B6 B5 AB 13 7D 87 5C AC E7 1C 62 CD A8 99 D1 C2 2C 60 46 61 70
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    5. There you go! Now try to mount ipt2g_3.0b2_restoreramdisk.dmg it in Snow Leopard! On Mac OS X 10.5.6 it gives you the "no mountable file systems" error.

So like, you got the Ramdisk from the IPSW right? Right? And like, you've uploaded somewhere. Now you're sharing it around. And like, the Ramdisk is like, copyrighted to like, Apple. It's their IP. SO like. You're like, not allowed to like, distribute it.

Oh. Same with distributing NOR files and the actual .ipsw itself. kk I'll take it down and get instructions instead.

You aren't even telling users how to decrypt the ramdisk right.
Sorry, but you can't copy pasta ramdisk key pairs from wikis and use them with xpwntool.

Edit: Oh wait, you're using a useless tool that isn't xpwntool.
Really, stop linking to that stupid thing, it is outdated.
