There's a free app called "Discover" you can get either from iTunes or App store that lets you upload files to your iPod (through WiFi) and lets you view them(doesnt support every format but does support quite a few).

If you have Word, copy and paste the text into it, save and use Discover to transfer it to your Ipod.

If you email the doc to yourself, you can read it without any additional software. The Ipod Touch can view doc, docx, htm, html, pdf, txt, xls and xlsx attachments.

I just read an entire pdf book that I had emailed to myself.

    Exactly what I do
No need for new applications, and a simple way to view them

You should use Stanza. It's a free application (AppStore). I own it and its great. It supports a lot of formats. I've downloaded books (right now have 9 books) from different sites. Download the app to your touch, and to your computer from lexcycle.com. And through Wi-Fi you get them! If need help, send message!
