I managed to keep all my apps by selecting update in iTunes then I quickpwn'd..... when done I SSH'd into my touch found I had two app folders and two theme folders so got rid of the new folder and renamed the folder form 2.2 to match the folder of 2.2.1 that cydia created and rebooted and I was good to go....... some apps did require a reinstall but eveythin works
