Not unless Skype adds video call support.

    Edit: To it's iOS App.

Skype has to update their iPhone app to support it. Hopefully they will soon since it will work on more than just one type of iDevice now.

I am thinking about purchasing an ipod 4g for us to take on a vacation to call our children. I was under the impression that we could video chat from the ipod to a desktop at home. Is this possible? We leave in Jan. Any ideas?

If you could, buy another iPod 4g and give it to your children. Otherwise, we have to hope skype gets updated

You could use iMovicha, it's cross platform video chat that can be used an alternative until Skype allows video chat. But you do need to be jailbroken.

Well wait a second here. If you have a Mac with OS X 10.6 installed on it, then you can download the Facetime beta application from Apple (http://www.apple.com/mac/facetime/). That'll work fairly well. There don't seem to be any serious bugs with it currently. Then you can bring the iPod with you and call home where the kids will (as long as you own one) have a Mac computer with Facetime installed.

Use Yahoo. Download the messenger on your desktop and install the app on the ipod, it supports video chat (I believe, I don't have the 4th gen yet but I will try it when I get it).

    Yahoo works

Aweek ago Yahoo added video chat to Messenger. I use my 4g Itouch with my daughter's desktop (she has Yahoo too.)
