So, I was one of those jailbroken ipod 2g that hit the recovery loop. I have been able to put 3.1.2 back on without a problem, bt have not been able to upgrade to iOS4. I've tried with my ipod jailbroken, without jailbreak, in recovery mode, in dfu mode, with a new user name, restoring without creating a new user etc. Anyone figure out a fix?

I have no trouble booting in 3.1.2, the problem is upgrading to 4.0 whichever method I try, whatever ipsw I try, I continually get put into a loop.

I called Apple and they're willing to replace my out of warranty iPod for free (I just took it to the UPS Store today). But other people have been reporting that Apple is charging you for the replacement, so I guess it's really up to the mood of the Apple agent talking to you.
