    hi everyone,

i have a 32GB ipod touch with the january software upgrade and it has version 1.1.3 firmware.

is there any advantage if i were to jailbreak my ipod?

and what are the risks of ruining it?

i broke my old ipod nano by messing with it and now it isn't possible to restore the ipod, and i dont want to break my brand new ipod touch.

    1. Yes. You can have tons of apps, games, skins, show off to your friends without jailbroken iPods, etc.
    2. No. You can always restore your iPod. If it is something wrong, it will be because of hardware, and Apple should replace it if you restore.
    3. It's always possible to restore, unless it's hardware.

so does having the january software upgrade not affect the jailbreaking process?

if something went wrong would a factory restore include the january software upgrade?

    thanks for any help

    1. Not at all
    2. It should based on DRM. Otherwise with all the restores, Apple would be surrounded by an angry mob of people wanting their app packs back.

    one last thing to ask.

my ipod is formatted to a Mac, will this affect the jailbreak?

I will be using the "[HOWTO] Jailbreak the 32GB iPod Touch (iJailbreakMobile method)" tutorial to do the Jailbreak. if that helps.
