Its what we need, the new jailbreak because this gives us the ability to use new firmware while haveing the advantages of a jailbroken device. Plus many people (including me) have aciedently upgraded to the new 4.0.2 and lost the jailbreak. You can downgrade but only if you have saved your SHSH.

Star may be made to jailbreak 4.0.2, but don't expect it anytime soon.

I'm focused on how long it'll take them to jailbreak the 4.1 firmware once it comes out.

Star wont be updated for 4.0.2, a new exploit would have to be found and implemented and its not worth it seeing as its going to be outdated pretty soon. The same is the case for newer devices for 4.1.

Old devices (2G iPods, 3G iPhones and old bootrom 3GS iPhones) can be jailbroken on 4.1 because the exploit exists in the hardware of the devices and so they can be jailbroken on any firmware. As for new devices, thats a different story, nobody knows when a new jailbreak for the new firmware will be released.

No it isn't.How could they jailbreak the 4.1 without it being out?

I'm not talking about the beta's...

Also not talking about older devices with older bootroms (2nd gen MB models and iPhones)

LOL please don't feed misinformation. Star exploits the device using a PDF exploit which has been sealed by fw 4.0.2, so Star won't be updated. However a new jailbreak might be made.

I doubt a Jailbreak will be released for 4.0.2, especially with 4.1 and the 4G iPod Touch just around the corner...
