when the ipt2g was tethered they had a dongle to boot it. i think it would be useful for the iphone 3gs and ipt3g. anyone agree?

bro i was thinkin of the same thing the other day! there must be a way of incorporating the data Geohot's Blackra1n software - into a portable bootable usb memory drive for ipt3g and iphone 3gs. Whoever manages to come out with this tool will probably make a fortune! I would buy it for sure..

Yea but what if right after they manufacture a lot of them a new exploit if found to have an untethered jailbreak? I know you could boot the 2g with a calculator or certain cell phones. The command was "run rs" if I'm not mistaken. Does anyone know if there is a command like that to boot the 3g?

I'm no expert.. but i can't see an untethered version from any of the dev teams (including Geohot) coming out shortly, or am I wrong?? I still think we're many months away. So for the meantime it would be great if we could boot our devices from a usb dongle.

this sounds interesting, has it been done before? I'm curious to see how it's made and how it works.

In order to do that we would need a Run RS command or such set up.

GeoHot was talking about putting up some DIY 'dongle' instructions on-line though I don't think they ever appeared. Note we don't allow discussion of 'commercial' dongle solutions here on iPtF but if any one has any free advice/instructions on this subject feel free to post up.

What's a dongle? Does this mean j can boot my iPod without a computer? How about an app that disables shutting down or something
