Are there any apps that have been created to make the USB cable and the iPod touch to work as an external hard drive?

The iPod Touch is a flash drive not a hard drive.
No app can make it into a hard drive.

The only thing available for system access is SSH. This allows you to view the iPod's files and all this.

DiskAid for using the touch over USB. but you need to have iTunes and DiskAid installed to use it.

If you have WiFi, get Air Sharing for free. It is a http-file-server. Its pretty easy to use.

The normal way like with other ipods doesnt work, because the filesystem on a touch is HFS2 and not FAT32.

HFS2 is a mac/linux file system, while FAT32 is from windows.

i know all these things, but i want to use it like an usb stick with an app ON my ipod, not a programm installed on the pc, i dont want to install iphonebrowser or sth like that on every pc i want to connect my ipod to....
air sharing or mobile finder are great but for WIFI not USB........ so we (or maybe just me) are asking you if theres a programm to use your ipod touch with usb as an storage device / usb stick (like mobile finder but not wireless)

and the link the post over yours doesnt work for me
