I've got an iPod Touch 3G 32gb. It shipped to me on 3.1.2, I Blackra1n'd it as soon as I opened it and was very happy with it.

I left a friend watching a video on it and she turned it off. Entirely my fault, I should've told her not to. Ahh well, live and learn. Anyway, I obviously had to restore it and through doing so it updated me to 3.1.3. Blackra1n gone. *sadface*.

Now, a couple of questions -

1 - Is it at all possible to downgrade or even jailbreak a 3.1.3?

2 - Since the iPod is only about 2 months old, is there someway of me breaking it so I could send it back for a replacement? It'll have to be a software break, since anything hardware wise will be deemed my own fault and I won't be given a replacement. I'm hoping I could then send it back to Dixons and they MIGHT send me back a 3.1.2 replacement. It's worth a shot, because even if they send me a 3.1.3 I've already managed to scratch the screen on this one and a new one will get a protector!

Thanks in advance for any help

First of all, you didn't need to restore it. That was unnecessary. You could try disconnecting during a firmware update and that might break it.

After she turned it off I was getting the icon to connect to my PC when I turned it back on. When I connected it to my PC it told me it needed restoring.

Not sure how I could've dodged that one.

That is why it is a tethered jailbreak. Anytime you shut if off and it says restore, then you just re-run blackra1n......

...You're kidding me? Well that'll teach me to just jump in without asking first. Now I know.

So yeah, is there anything I can do?

Unless you backed your ECID & SHSH in Cydia on Saurik's servers then no. Apple isn't signing 3.1.2 anymore.

It's my understanding that saurik's server cannot back them anymore either.
