Well, I only saw tutorials on using Android on an iPhone, but I am wondering if I can use Android on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen (running OS 3.1.3; jailbroken with Spirit).

Also, would I be able to access the market via WiFi?

    Thanks in advance

P.S. I saw the other "Android on iPod" question threads, but I'm wondering specifically about an iPod Touch 3rd Gen, running OS 3.1.3 that is jailbroken by Spirit.

You can't yet, not until we have an iBoot exploit, and a version of OpeniBoot for iPod touch.

    It'll happen eventually though.

Ok. Well I get my Moto Droid in about 3 days, when my mom gets her HTC Incredible, so I can wait XD. Thanks to both of you for the speedy response.

Yea, I agree. It'd be cool, but pointless. Very pointless, in my opinion.

Why not? Andoid on iPod will be like iPhone OS on iPod, just without mobile network internet and phone calles. They already successfully run Android (when it was still in beta) on Nokia N810 that is also iPod Touch like device:

(BTW this is how Android UI looked when it's been announced ;])

Android is excellent, just because of how open it is.

It will eventually be ported to the iPod touch G3, though it may take a while (for reasons others have stated).

But you have to realize that Android on the iPod/iPhone will probably never be perfect, and won't ever be as good as it is on devices that are made to run it.

Well, it'll be somewhat the same, minus the App Store. But then again, so many devices/mobile OSes are like that. Take away the UI and all modern OSes are basically the same; they can play music, watch videos, browser the internet etc. But what differentiates the iPhoneOS from other OSes, in my opinion, is the App Store. I mean, without the App Store, an iPod Touch just has basic OS features.

I know that Android has the Android Market, but will those apps even work on iPhone/iPod Touches? (I'm actually asking, not being sarcastic). If they don't, then what's the point of having Android on your iPod, other than it being a 'cool' feature?
