No doubt they are all waiting for the Galaxy S3 to arrive, just like Apple sales go down when the next version of the iPhone is due
Once again, I'll mention my "sheep" idea. Since we hang out in a community that knows the difference between phones, operating systems, and certain bells and whistles, it seems that a lot of Android users are giving up and heading to Apple. This simply isn't true though. We are in the extreme minority and most people out there couldn't tell the difference between what an iPhone does and what a, say, Samsung Galaxy S III does. If you're a technologically illiterate person and you're presented with an overwhelming amount of options, you will most likely head for what people say is the best and simplest to use. From the perspective of a sheep, what are we thinking? "My best friend Bob has an iPhone, and he says it does everything! Also, Apple's commercial looks so cool and the features that it shows are simple and easy to use. Some of my other friends have phones with this Android OS as they call it which they say is better than the iPhone, but they argue about which of their phones are the best. Well, I don't really care about researching about different phones and I just want something that seems to do everything, so I think I'll just go with the iPhone." This is the majority of the crowd (assuming we're talking about the ones that are on the wealthier side and can afford upscale smartphones). The iPhone users that are more technologically-advanced more than likely made their decision based on other factors, and many of these users may have even switched to an Android device (or perhaps a WP 7 device) because they noticed the iPhone was lacking something they desired. By no means is Android falling or losing control. It just happens that because Apple is attempting to take advantage of a less-informed crowd while Android phone manufacturers are attempting to appeal to power users, we are seeing more people flock to the iPhone.
Exactly, I ask some of my friends why they have an iPhone and they all say the same thing, "Because its an iPhone!" When I show them how much more powerful android is, they always say how they had no idea you could do that.
With the Galaxy S III coming to Five US carriers, and scoring 9 million preorders on the first day (and that was without the US) I won't exactly be so sure. Samsung's Galaxy S moniker is a heavyweight like the iPhone, and because of this they will keep getting customers. You could almost call them sheep, like the iPhone sheep (difference being most are interested in the hardcore Exynos SoC. the rest afterwards will just be the real sheep who yell out "I want a galaxy" and probably end up with the first thing they see "Galaxy S " on.
I agree completely! I'm a HUGE iPhone fan, but everything you wrote is completely true. Just the other day I went out to play some pool with a buddy of mine and he asked me if I could help him with his phone, he had trouble updating something, he has the Droid Galaxy S II. I'm pretty tech savvy so I was able to help him, but it took me quite some time to figure it out, but as I was trouble shooting he said, "that effin phone is confusing, I want to switch to the iPhone, my brother has it and he loves it", his brother apparently switched from Droid to iPhone and said he made a wise choice. So, for the tech savvy or "power users" as you mentioned, Droid is usually what they shoot for....but most (not all) consumers buy the "next best phone" and have NO clue how to use it, they use it just for taking pictures, texting, calling, FaceBook'ing and whatever other social networking app....and, THAT'S IT! But when they try anything else, they get stuck and confused, often believing that it's just "hard to use", so they opt for an "easier" phone, which most believe to be the iPhone
