    here's what i've tried all done under 8.0.1 itunes

    1.1.4 restore ----> 2.0 an unknown error has occurred (5)
    1.1.4 dfu ---> 2.0 an unknown error has occurred (1)
    1.1.4 restore ---> 1.1.5
    1.1.5 restore ---> 2.0 an unknown error has occurred (5)
    1.1.5 dfu ---> 2.0 an unknown error has occurred (1)
    1.1.5 restore ---> 2.1 an unknown error has occurred (5)
    1.1.5 dfu ---> 2.1 an unknown error has occurred (1)

    please help me, i've followed several guides on upgrading and NONE WORK

    i tried downgrading my itunes, it did nothing

    i'm on version 1.1.5, i'm trying to get to version 2.1, the thread you linked me to is about downgrading

    make sure that u have the right update file, for the specific verision,

    u must have exact 2.1 not 2.1.1 or 2.0.1 etc.

    use itunes 7.7 for 2.0, 2.1

    I had to fix my mates iPod which was doing this, the only thing I found that worked everytime was updating into a custom firmware
