Do you use safari to download the 1.1.1 firmware?

    I would recommend using Firefox.

exactly the software can not be downloaded whit safari because safari alters the software, so if you are a mac user the download has to be don by Firefox, Navigator or on a windows machine.

you can get a guide at this site http://weltz.co.uk/Jailbreak/Downgrade_to_1.1.1.html

That file is a zip file. I do not think that Safari will alter it.

Edit: both Safari and Firefox add .zip to the file name. Just delete the .zip from the end of the file name.

If you have a mac PM me and I can let you download it directly from my iDisk. I have a folder of iPod Goodies with most everything you will need.

actually u can just rename the .zip file to .ipsw and it will change the format of the file. It worked for me.

if u download it with safari, safari unarchives the .zip and throws the original ipsw in the trash where u can easily recover it.
