This is in response to a series of tweets from @sleepersnet, the official twitter channel of the Sleepers.net repository.

    Sleepers,
As the host of a repository on Cydia, you sacrifice your servers to the endless pounding from the fingers of iPhone owners worldwide. I will be the first to say that I appreciate that. I really do.

I also really love your ideas. Sleepers is the only user maintained repository, with users uploading their own applications, themes, and packages through an automated system. Not only is this a smart way of management, but that's smart code.

However, you do need to work on a few things. Last week, you were delisted from the Cydia repository list because users had uploaded cracked applications. And you had a b*tchy fit and accused saurik of delisting you because he was jealous of you, your repository, and Kryptes, which you call vastly superior to Cydia. This is not smart, because you are dead wrong.

Kryptes features content from the Sleepers.net repository and you are required to have Cydia in order to get it. You freaking rely on Cydia to distribute Kryptes. Not only that, but you rely on Cydia for your well-being. Without Cydia, Sleepers would not exist. You would get no advertising revenue.

In addition, Kryptes is not vastly superior to Cydia. From what I've seen, Kryptes' only sources are Sleepers.net, Winterboarder, PwnCenter, and 2 free-hosted repositories sure to run out of bandwidth in the near future. There may be more, I could be wrong. The content of these sources is as sh*tty as you can get. You don't moderate your uploads, as there are cracks in there. If you are, you're doing a pretty bad job. The content of Kryptes consists of the following:

    1. Average themes
    2. Horrible themes
    3. Not bad Winterboarder themes
    4. Bordering on pornographic themes
    5. The occasional glitchy application

One of it's sources had over 20 copies of nude images on its repository for anybody to download. Is this what you call superior?

Kryptes cannot add sources, nor can it hide sections, refresh manually, install any non-theme package properly, and provide any small degree of professionalism. I had to manually respring when installing something. Meaning I had to install a 3rd party add-on FROM CYDIA in order to get one of your packages to work. Is THIS what you call superior?

Kryptes managed to crash on me 12 times in the span that I was testing it for a conparison. Cydia did not. Nor did Installer, Icy, or the App Store. Is this finally what you call superior, because I'm having a damn hard time finding what is.

Freeman (saurik) has always made it clear that he is against cracked applications, yet you let your repository run rampant without moderation and provide cracked applications. He has every right to remove you for whatever reason. He has a perogative to remove you if you violate one of the requirements for listing.

Moderate your repository's contents and reapply for listing in the repositories section. That's the only way to regain your status and more importantly, respect. Oh, and stop claiming false superiority. I think I got you there.

    Sincerely,
    Andrew (spoonforknife)

Is sleepers still part of bigboss? I remember reading awhile back that they combined. Bigboss repo does all the apps and sleepers does themes?

I agree with surik though. If you are hosting that kind of stuff, you should be delisted. If it is ran the way you say, users can upload whatever, then it was probably only a matter of time before it happened. I do think they should have gotten some kind of warning first (maybe they did, who knows?) before they were delisted. Just moderate your repo.

Can't really comment on Kryptes. Never used it or anything other then cydia. Don't have a reason to. Cydia does everything I need and has been very reliable. Choice is good, but how many apps do we need to do the same job? I think all these other package managers see the money Saurik is making and want in on the action, which is fine, competition is good for everyone, but the way the developers go around knocking something that has served the community and them so well, makes me not even want to give them a chance.

Just put your app out there and if people like it they will use it. When cydia was first released, not very many people used it, even if it was better then installer. It took 2.x to show people that it was better. If your app really is better, people will eventually figure it out on there own. If it really sucks it will fade away like installer

No, BigBoss left Sleepers for his own website.
