ok, so i was wondering if i could use my ipod touch 4g as a wireless camera. its not a crazy idea, i have my own wifi router and a fast internet connection and this idea is far too obvious so someone should have made an app on it. i mean, how cool would it be if you just put your ipod on the shelf, go to your room upstairs and spy on whoever you want. and you can use the wifi to see the video in real time! i tried googling it but did not find anything.so does anyone here know about any such app?

I have not heard of such an app, but it sounds like a battery drainer

You could have it plugged in the whole time...
I'm sure someone could easily make an app for this though!

There is one, but I think it's more for iPhone, but if I remember correctly, any idevice using the app can tap into the iPhone's camera and see what it sees on your screen, and even take photos.

    1. Set auto lock to never
    2. Install Veency from Cydia
    3. Open settings app and change Veency password to something you will remember
    4. Find and record your iPod's IP address in settings app > WiFi > blue arrow on current network
    5. Place your iPod wherever you want to spy
    6. Get a VNC viewer for your computer (google)
    7. Log into your iPod using its IP address and Veency password
    8. Now you can view and control your iPod from your computer. Open the camera app and you can see what it sees in addition to taking pictures/video.

Yeah same here with the camera but I do get about 1 frame per second. I think it really depends on the speed of your WiFi. I just tried making an ad-hoc network on my laptop and connecting my iPod to it and the screen refresh was faster, but still had the camera problem.

Can't you just use skype? Make two skype accounts and call one on your iPod. Answer it on your PC. Simple. You also get sound that way....
