So today me being an idiot going to my uncles house had my ipod sitting on my lap. I never turned it on for the whole car ride over. When we arrive at my uncles house, i had to rush out of the car and i totally forgot about my ipod. I come back outside later, it so happens that my aunt ran it over with her car while it was facing down. Heres the amazing thing. It still works, the touch screen doesn't though. im stuck at the screen where you have to unlock it. The square button still works also. So my question is instead of having to call apple and have to pay 300 dollars for a brand new one cant i just buy a new screen or is this a no fix?

You have to get a replacement the actual touch screen is broken that allows you to move it

Maybe. You can replace the whole touch part, plus the screen. Search eBay.

All you need to do is buy a digitizer. look on ebay. theyre fairly cheap. the screen itself is just an lcd screen, then the digitizer goes over it and that is what makes it a touch screen

Why would you put your iPod on your lap but not use it?

I read that its hard just to replace the digitizer, i think its glued or attached to the glass.
