I thought this would be cool. I'm not sure if this is possible but wouldn't it be cool to change the names of your applications such as gameboy4iphone to just "gameboy"? Can someone please make this happen?

If you just SHH into /Applications it's really easy to do this manually, I named my gpsphone just GBA.

Doing that screws up some Applications, though, because they have important files in other locations with the original name.

I have been asking for this app for quite sometime, but don't use the above method for all the apps. Some apps (like customize and safari) are completely useless if you rename the "Name".app folder. I have a few threads on how to change names if you really can't wait. Search for "Icon Names Labels" and you should see a few started by me.

As I said a couple of posts up, some apps will be useless if you do this, such as Safari and Installer.

    To do this:
    (only works on OSX Leopard)
    1.SSH to your pod
    2.Download the file:
    /system/library/coreservices/SpringBoard.app/[your language]/LocalizedApplicationNames.strings
3.Change the extension form .strings to .plist
    4.Open it with plist editor
    5. Edit it how you want
    6.Save it as .plist
    7.Rename to.strings
    8.Copy the .strings file to:
    /system/library/coreservices/SpringBoard.app/[your language]/LocalizedApplicationNames.strings
    9.Overwrite
    10.Respring and done
