Some of the things Amazon lists is bogus. And they completely ignore the good things about the iPad Mini. Am I surprised about that? No.

The same way Apple didn't list any of the good things about the tablets from their competitors.
It shouldn't be surprising. It's business.

Ah, but Apple doesn't list bad things, either. This does.
On another note, that iPad mini image looks suspiciously like it was directly ripped off Apple's site.

Apple shouldn't be worried. It's Apple after all. They have the ecosystem and the user-base + the demand for one. Amazon do not. Kindle's are pretty much a hit and miss. Though, perhaps not in America I wouldn't know. They're extremely unpopular here in Australia, definitely haven't taken off.

Doesn't the Kindle also run a heavily skinned and laggy version of Android? Or am I mistaken?

It probably was. But it'd be taken from the PR Images section of the site that allows you to download immense high-quality Press Release images of each product Apple release. That's how the Resellers and others print images in Catalogues and display them on websites.

I'm not sure about that, but it certainly is not a good UI. Always laggy. (Yes I have tried a kindle)

Good job, Amazon. It is about time someone did this.

I'm glad someone decided to take a punch at Apple. The iPad Mini is a disgrace considering it's "specs : $$$" ratio. Why wouldn't you pay less to get that much more? And honestly, the iOS app market really isn't that great. I spent FOREVER finding decent apps on my iPod Touch 5th Gen and I'm stating this from an extremely unbiased point of view.

I frequent the iOS App Store on my iPod Touch 5th and Google Play on my Samsung Galaxy Player often and honestly I've come to the conclusion that the whole "iOS has MORE apps, way more than android" point is stupid considering how many pointless apps I've rummaged through the past few weeks (I facepalm almost everytime I search for ANYTHING due to the billion of "guide" apps for games or 1 star garbage references... I mean Google Play doesn't have much either (including tons of horrible apps as well), but there isn't a striking difference in quality apps other than some obviously work and look better on iOS.

The iPad "mini" is a gimmick. And unfortunately there will be some people who will fall to it's market scheme instantly because of that familiar fruit on the back... but anyone with actually tech knowledge will steer far away from it if they weigh the value.

Best MP3/3-5inch media device? iPod Touch 5th easily, that's coming from a Samsung Galaxy Player 5 owner.

Best 7inch tablet? Nexus/Kindle Fire HD/Nook HD > iPad Mini. The "huge" market aside, it's day and night...

Interested to hear some defense comments for the iPad Mini, I'm curious to how people could justify it with all the other cards in play.

    EDIT: https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_10_16gb&feature=microsite

^ Apparently you can get a 16gb Nexus Tablet with BETTER specs than the full sized iPad (including a higher resolution screen) for only $70 more... Now that's what I call a punch. Keep it up Google, Amazon, etc-- maybe we can get Apple to re-think how it milks the consumer.

    That huge bezel is hideous

So you'd rather have less bezel and less internals?

It's a trade off, but I prefer productivity over a lesser bezel. I mean... even with the bezel it weights less-- so in real usage I doubt it'll be as noticeable or a huge issue. I recall someone also mentioning that the extra bezel allows for the stereo speakers built in, rather than the mono speaker on the iPad.
