After reading many articles and threads, I'm not utterly confused. I have a first generation iPod Touch, jailbroken at 1.1.4. I've not bought the upgrade. Now that there are lots of apps available, I'd like to upgrade and it looks like I'll be getting 2.2.1 (the one currently available on iTunes). However, I'll still want to jailbreak my iPod Touch. I'll be doing this from a MacBook (one generation before the aluminum unibody ones) running Mac OS 10.5.6. I'm unsure if jailbreaking 2.2.1 is possible without signing up for some Apple Developer thing, which I'd rather not do. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've read that. It implies that I need the ADC thing. But other articles imply that this problem only applies to the unibody MacBooks.

    Jonathan,

go to the felixbruns site as alokg said. download the firmware to your desktop (or wherever as long as you can find it easily) You need Ipod Touch 1G 2.2.1 5H11 firmware.
Download quickpwn from the quickpwn.com site (i think you can even get the firmware there too). Make sure to get the one for your OS.
when its done, make sure your ipod is plugged in, open quickpwn, and follow the instructions on screen carefully. You'll be instructed to hold home for 5 seconds, then home + power for 10, then release power while still holding home for 30 seconds. It's very easy, just make sure you follow the instructions exactly.
    Good luck.
