The aluminum backing on the ipod touch not only attracts scratches, but is also terribly weak. My little two year old sister grabbed it and threw it at a table, and the corner hit it. now the corner is depressed inward a little, with part of the bezel split apart. now the bottom of the iPod is curvedish

P if you look closely, you can see a legitimate crack on the bezel. Im pretty sad now that its all jacked up... everything still works though. My advice: get a case and a screen protector.

Macs and the iPad have an aluminum back. The iPod touch has a chrome back.

And yes, definitely get a case for it.

The screen is great. Only the backing sucks. The screen is like fully scratch-proof. One of my old iPod touch devices never had a screen protector and the screen doesn't have a single scratch after over 3 years. My 3G iPod doesn't have any scratches on the screen either.

Everyone that's owns an iPod agrees on this. Even if you have a case it still gets scratches somehow.

I always said the #1 upgrade i am expecting for next gen iPod is apple to ditch the nostalgia scratch magnet chrome back in favor of aluminum like iPad or gorrilla glass, even plastic would be better than crappy chrome
    Soo true

The back isn't chrome... It's stainless steel.
