I realise that SSH is the norm for transferring files to the ipod touch. However i hated using, therefore i started searching for a better way. i eventually found Diskaid. Diskaid is a program for windows that allow the user full read/write access to the ipod touch for transferingfiles in and out. your ipod does not need to be jailbroken to use this however you will not be able to view or alter the root. luckily the ipod touch 2g is untethered now

. so many of you will be jailbroken so this program will allow root read/write access on the ipod touch.

Diskaid access's the ipod touch and transfers files through usb.

    Link to download :

This does not need fileaid to operate, that is just a file viewer.
cydia has apps that will allow you to view files for free.

May I also note that DiskAid cannot execute files, set permissions, execute commands, nor do any of the actual necessary things that SSH is used for.

Want to put an application on your iPod?
Oh, you need to set permissions.

Hidden all your icons and need to launch Poof?
    Oh, can't execute commands.

DiskAid should only be used for transferring small files that don't need permissions set or backing up the filesystem onto a computer, as USB is naturally faster than an internet connection.

I use total commander 'cause WinSCP is stubborn for me and it works swell.
