My son has a 2nd gen 8gb touch and his friend attempted to jailbreak it, now all it does is show the apple logo.

I have trawled through the forums and web sites offering all the same answers but with little twists. I have tried everything but to now availe.

Does any have a different approach to the normal hold for 10 release hold etc etc..

Do you remember the model number on it? Ask his friend to try to run the jailbreak again because it might be a tethered jailbreak.

If it was tethered, it wouldn't show the Apple logo.

And OP, you'll have to enter DFU mode and restore. It should be a black screen, but iTunes will ask you to restore the iPod. Follow this guide

DFU mode + Restore will fix it.

Tried that, but the problem is when I plug it into the PC the apple logo comes up on the touch (Charging I assume) but the PC does not recognise the pod being there and so does nothing..
