With the introduction of the iPhone 4 and iOS4 Apple has successfully patched all exploits that were being used to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone. Unless a new exploit is discovered iPhone owners may not be able to jailbreak or unlock their iPhones using unauthorized methods. There have been numerous announcements that the iOS 4 has been jailbroken and even the iPhone 4. But, there are not reliable iPhone unlocking solutions to date that are being offered to the public. These initial reports have been in isolated instances using unmarketable methods. For example, if the code being used to jailbreak or unlock the iPhone contains any Apple code it is considered proprietary and would violate the copyright laws if distributed. With all the excitement of the iOS4 being pre-released to developers, providing for hackers an opportunity to plan in advance, this delay in an iPhone unlocking solution came as a great surprise and disappointment to many iPhone owners. But, that has not prevented the promises from flowing. An exploit is being touted as a “Jailbreak for life” which will unlock and jailbreak any and all iPhone for life. This seems to be an unrealistic claim in light of the recent difficulties in jailbreaking and unlock iPhone 4. Of all the developers announcing their breakthrough they do not announce any dates that the jailbreak or unlock solution can be expected to be released to the consumer. So, it looks to be at least a few more weeks before any reliable iPhone unlocking solution is found that may be offered to the public.
