So I have an iPod touch 2G on 4.2.1 that I play on my Logitech Z523s through the use of an iPod cradle with 3.5mm audio out, RCA piggyback cables, and a 3.5mm to RCA cable. This setup works, but at times when the iPods not on the cradle, or I want to listen to music when I'm not in the room, it's a bit of a hassle to play music from the iPod I never really followed AirPlay, or really know how it works or anything like that, but I want to know if there's a receiver that would receive audio from the iPod and output it to a white/red dual RCA input. Anything for this? Thanks a lot.
Alright, well, I found out how. ... But it's pretty expensive and includes something I don't need. I guess the only way I can do this is by either buying new AirPlay-compatible speakers, or buying an AirPort Express. I guess I'm going to have to buy an AirPort Express; that seems like the more logical solution. The AirPort Express, I guess, is meant to be a router replacement, but, for my case, I have a wicked nice Netgear Wireless-N router that supports a lot more than 10 devices, with four Ethernet out ports, so instead of the AirPort Express taking in my internet directly from my modem, I'll be attaching it to my network via one of the Ethernet outs on my router. The speakers will attach to the AirPort express via a 3.5mm to RCA cable. I won't be connecting any wireless devices to the AirPort; I'll just be using it to stream music from devices attached to the Netgear router (desktop iTunes, laptop iTunes, and iPod touch) to the speakers attached to the AirPort. So I basically would just have an expensive AirPlay reciever. Apple needs to make a standalone AirPlay reciever that outputs audio. No need for a bult-in router. :.
