I am a new iPod Touch user, and getting wifi access seems erratic at times. For example, if I am at a Seattle Public Library site, wifi access has always worked for me, and I am able to access web pages. However, at other hot spots, where a login is required ( for instance Starbucks, where I am an active card holder ) it is not clear how to force the login page to appear in Safari. Sometimes it appears as soon as I try to access another web page, and I can log in. However, other times, I just get an error message stating that there is no internet access. It seems that invoking the "Renew Lease" option on my iPod sometimes helps, but I don't know whether this is merely a coincidence.

So, my question to the group is: what is the most reliable way to get the login screen to appear in Safari at a wifi hotspot?

Usually all I have to do is tap the refresh icon.
