Hey all I just need some advice.. At school I had my USB in the pc and a kid broke the stem part of it ( the part that goes intro the USB port) I was wondering if it was possible to buy a new stem and use a soldering iron to attach the new stem. Now what I was wondering is if would it fix it because this is about a $60 USB. I have access to all I need so yeah. Thanx for the help

soldering is definetely possible since usb stems don't include any electronical parts...just some metallic or golden contacts....try it if you don't fear it and have a bit spare time+ only if you urgently need the files on the usb flash....otherwise go for a new one - but if you did it then think of backups in the future

you can but be EXTREMELY careful I found a pdf of a similar repair search "solder a usb flash drive repair" on google(no quotes) and the first thing(a pdf) has some good tips, it should have 4 contacts, make sure to not connect then to each other.

yup that is very important - solder the 4 contacts in the way that they stay seperately

otherwise there WILL be a short circuit (Power +5 and ground simply just don't belong together
