I bet all of you guys are missing installer as much as i am on your freshly jailbroken 2g ipod touch. well this tutorial will show you how to do it.

note: you must have ssh installed

    step1.
    download the installer file
    http://i.ripdev.com/packages/System/installer-40b11-4.zip

    step2.
extract it somewhere to your computer.

    step3.
log into your ipod via ssh. (username:root password:alpine)

    step4.
go to the applications directory and copy the installer.app folder (that you extracted at the begining) over to your ipod.

    step5.
start up terminal (you can do this on your ipod or through ssh with winscp)

    step6.
    type in the following commands
    chmod -R 777 "/Applications/Installer.app"
    chmod a+srx "/Applications/Installer.app/Installer"
    killall SpringBoard

now your ipod should respring and you should have the installer application. now just open it up and install the latest version and your good to go.

It did the command great, but the second command says file not permitted

(On terminal on ipod itself not winscp)

If some one could tell me how to do this through winscp that would be super.

to do it in winscp just be logged into your ipod and hit ctrl+t

that will bring up terminal. try putting it into there.

EDIT: by the way, what kind or error does it give you?
