    Hello,

I'm new to this site, and I was wondering what the actual capacity of a 32G iPod Touch is. Currently my iTunes reads to me that the capacity of my iPod Touch is 29.56G. Should i be worried?

Not at all. There has to be some room for the OS and things in the other partition, as well as Apple's inconstancies in calculating what a gigabyte is.

It's not Apples inconsistencies, It's everyone. A gigabyte is actually 1,024 megabytes, not 1,000 megabytes.

Yes, but Apple says on their website that 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes.

It's goes without saying that A gigabyte is actually 1,024 megabytes. It's like that on Apples website (and everyone else's)because it's easier for consumers (and it's a nice round number for converting ect.). When someone who knows about it sees it they don't point it out and say its wrong, because It goes without saying.

OK thank you for clearing that up for me.
So every iPod has about 2.5g of memory that can't be used?

It depends on the capacity of the iPod. For example an 8gb touch can only hold 7gigabytes of info. The higher capacity the more space it taken off for formating, ect.

they should put a little bit over 32GB like maybe 33GBso that way when they put the os it will be atleast alost 32GB instead of them having to take 2GB out for the OS so that way people will be a llittle bit more happier
