Well now you can access external hard drives on your iPad. But sadly need another device, like a laptop, to power the hard drive. Rather than using a hard drive would a USB flash drive remove the need for an external power source?

You can access content from an external hard drive now from your iPad? How do you do that?

Haha it's not really worth it ATM since you need another computer nearby to power the drive as the usb camera connection kit doesn't support poerr output. Just google it

Hmm... I'd think that certain USB drives would work just fine. There still needs to be a very weak current running through for the USB port to read anything at all.

Not that I have a kit to test... They are so hard to come by nowadays.

External hard drives won't work because they need 12v to spin, use laser etc. Flash Drives being solid and no moving parts allows them to live off the 6v of one USB port.
