OK, I made a thread like this around 4 months ago, and bumping it would be against the rules, so...

Sometimes, for no apparent reason, my accelerometer will not respond to shakes; eg. if I'm playing TTR, I can hit all the left/right shakes, but not the up/down shakes. Other things that don't work are: Music coverflow, Pictures (turn it sideways), safari landscape, calc landscape, Dice (shake); pretty much anything which you have to shake or tilt the iPod to do. Sometimes, when this happens, I give my iPod to my baby brother with the Photos app running, and me can miraculously fix it.

I'm not sure of the cause or the fix but I need help!

No major drops. To try and get it to work again I've tried throwig it around, though.

I never understood that here. I'd rather have someone bump my thread than make a new one and orphan an already existing one.

Anyway, you're an Apple Repair Tech, do you have anything to say?

I'm guessing hardware defect (eg. dropped, old, dirt/debris in it, etc). Do you have a warranty? If not either try to ignore it or you could buy a new iPod Touch. Sorry

(ps where did you get that app that shows what your accelerometer is doing? I mean the picture you posted.)
