Before we start, plz, no replies saying "That guide's already made" cuz this is a super simplified version. Because just looking at Quickfreedom may make them afraid to jailbreak. So here we go!

    What jailbreaking does:
Jailbreaking basically allows installation of apps that are not Apple approved. That means that if you don't jailbreak, you can't install themes and stuff. You can get these apps and themes from Cydia. Cydia is like an installer.

    What you need:
    Pretty basic stuff:
An iPod Touch 2G, iTunes, a cable, a computer with Windows, Internet to get the firmware. (or else how would you read this post?)

If you have already installed QuickFreedom, skip to number 3

    1.) Download Quickfreedom from http://quickfreedom.com

2.) Install and Start (for Vista users, run as administrator or it won't work)

3.) In the menu, click jailbreak

4.) Find the 2.2.1 firmware, or download it from the menu. The firmware is like the OS the iPod runs on. Quickfreedom turns this into a custom version that's jailbroken.

5.) Install the LibUSB drivers. Basically these are drivers Quickfreedom needs to jailbreak the iPod. (make sure your iPod is plugged in on this step), should be straight forward.
(FOR 64 BIT USERS GO TO THE BOTTOM AND DO THE STEPS THAT SAY FOR 64 BIT USERS ONLY!!!! Or else fear the consequences...)

6.) Press the Next button, check the stuff you want, then create custom firmware

7.) Press the Next button, use the DFU instructions. This is a mode you have to be in to jailbreak. (turn off, plug in, then hold the home and sleep button for 10 seconds, there will be a timer, then let go of the power but still hold home for about 30 seconds or until iTunes finds an iPod in recovery mode, if you did it correctly, you should be in DFU MODE. You'll know if your screen is black)

8.) Start pre jailbreak, your screen should turn white. Wait patiently.

9.) Open iTunes and restore your iPod with the Custom Firmwear

10.) w00t you jailbroke your iPod!

FOR 64 BIT USERS ONLY OR YOUR COMPUTER WILL HAVE PROBLEMS -

    <-----------------

You need to download a special version of LibUsb yourself or your computers will have problems, follow these steps:

A YouTube guide is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21wFxw1kwSo

You can find this in the README's, but everyone likes it in one place, no?
    (Step 1)

    1) Plug in your iPod and Open inf-wizard, click next
    2) Select your ipod from the list and click next->next->then save as "MYSETUP" in the 1) folder
    3) OPEN START MENU and type "hdwwiz.cpl" and PRESS ENTER (If this does not work go to cpanel and search add hardware
    4) Click NEXT
    5) Select Install Manually (Advanced)
    6) MAKE SURE SHOW ALL DEVICES IS SELECTED AND CLICK NEXT
    7) CLICK HAVE DISK....
    8) click BROWSE... and find "MYSETUP.INF" in this README FOLDER: 1) ADD HARDWARE WIZARD
    9) PRESS OK and then NEXT TWICE
    10) IF WARNING APPEARS, click INSTALL ANYWAY

    (Step 2)

Good job! The worst is over. These parts are easier

1.) MAKE SURE you right click on LIBUSB 32win Setup and select Properties
Then click the compatibility tab and select Make this Compatible for Windows XP (SP2)
    CLICK OK

    2.) Install the Setup.

    (Step 3)

    Simply run the readydriver

w00t! Now reboot the computer and run the test app. Now go jailbreak that iPod!

    ------------------>
Have Fun! And don't shoot yourself with a gun.

Well, to any noob that's going to read this, don't use QuickFreedom. If you're not going to use redsn0w, which is the best tool for jailbreaking a touch as of now, then at least use redTool. Chris is on at least once a day, and will always be able to help you.

no, u see, people like you who go around boasting that redsn0w is command line is what makes people nervous

command line implies that you will have to enter commands manually, which you dont, it is fully automated

also, quickfreedom screws up people ipods, use redtool if you NEED a gui, which by the way, you dont

I've used Redsn0w before, it's cool with me. But the part about Quickfreedom screwing up iPods? Never heard of that.

quickfreedom is nothing compared to redsn0w or redtool. Redtool is much more stable and up to date, redsn0w is official, and scares no one but those who boast about gui's. Quickfreedom simply does not work as well as Redtool, plus the boot image tool is only available in redtool.

QuickFreedom didn't work for me. Then I switched to manual jailbreak. SO much easier.
