How long would you estimate it would take to put about 7.5GB (including music, videos, podcasts, and photos) onto an iPod touch, considering my laptop is somewhat fastish?

I would really like to know whether or not on christmas morning I should put all of my stuff on it at first. I'll probably start around 10ish and hope to be finished by at least 11:30.
Would you say thats enough time to put all of that on there?

(I have a long ride at 12 and would like to have all that stuff put on it, have it jailbroken, and some other stuff before I go. So I'm just trying to plan out my morning accordingly

If I were you, I'd start with just putting on a few albums. If time allows, put on more. Lather rinse repeat.

Yeahh I was thinking about doing that...I think I might.
But do you really think an hour and a half wouldnt be enough time to put all that on it at once?

I synced 10GB in 20-30 mins so yeah if it takes an hour and a half there is something wrong.

    Really? Well thats a relief.
I just keep hearing people say it takes forever to sync stuff so I was kinda worried. But that made me feel better.
    Thanks!

Yeah just make sure you have a USB 2.0 connection going..and not into a non usb 2.0 hub or anything, it'll crawl at a snail's pace.

If it is less than 2.0 it will charge but itunes will say it cannot be used

Don't almost all computers have USB 2.0 hubs all of the time anyway?

well the computers now a days have 2.0 ports but if you buy inexpensive (see: cheap) usb hubs they might not all be hi-speed usb 2.0, which will cause connection problems. I used a friends cheap-o hub one time and it mounted and unmounted the ipod rapidly and continuously until i unplugged it..

Anything made in the last few years are guaranteed to, I believe.

Yep you will have plenty of time to put everything you want on there. If you are ready for the jailbreak and you know what you're doing you can probably get most of that done as well.
