About BSD subsystem

    Hey guys, I have an ipod touch, and I for some programs i need to download "BSD subsystem".. What is it exactly, and do I really need it? Apparently you cant uninstall it. So im wondering if its worth the download and whats the benefit? :S Yes im a noob...

    Yes you do need it, and it is important. You cant uninstall it but if you restore, it wont be there anymore. You can find it in the installer.app

    he BSD Subsystem allows the user to interact with the OS through the command line. Though not essential, the BSD Subsystem may be required by some applications and command line commands

    Well, you need it because the programs need it - isn't that reason enough?

    BSD subsystem provides commands that the programs use so they don't have to recreate functions from scratch... It's like the difference between telling your dog to go outside to go to the bathroom, and grabbing your dog and physically moving their legs to walk outside...

    You could even think of it as somewhat of a driver...some programs need to run certain commands not native to the original OS.
