My son has a 2nd gen 8gb touch. His "So called" mate tried to jail break it and it wont start.

I have read through the forums and various topics about restarting and other things but nothing works.

I have tried holding various buttons and letting go, plugging in and out of the PC and different times but nothing. It wont connect to PC, the apple logo goes on and off at different times but nothing else.

Is this what they call "Totally bricked"?

    Advice please

i don't think its possible to totally brick a 2nd gen touch,
holding the power and home button at the same time for around 5 seconds, and then letting both go as always worked for me to restart it

Hmm happened to me once...Try holding the power and home button for more than a minute and release and restore its current firmware because it totally worked for me.

Just hold the home button and plug in the USB cable. The iPod should go into recovery mode.

hold power+home for 10 seconds then let go of the power button, but KEEP HOLDING the home button for another 5 seconds. then plug it in and you can restore.
